I plan on painting something similar for my office. Could anyone direct me to a website or informational source that could help me achieve this type of look. What I mean by that, is that it appears that after painting the canvass red, the artist “splatted” black and gold before drawing the symbol and outline.
I need instruction on how to do this. I like the messy, old look.
Any tips or suggestions for a person that has never painted art, would be greatly appreciated!!
any suggestions on making the black straight lines?
Yes, I could make something like the photo. Here is what I would do: Using a gallery canvas. Paint the background oriental red appy with brush and palette knife for variation.. For the blotches use uniform blue (a bluish-gray) applied with a sponge or palette knife. The border would be a soft black straight edge. The design looks like a Chinese character. Cut out a designed stencil and then apply using the soft black again. Accent with gold paint as needed.
It it sounds too much for you to do, give me a holler.
